Discover the history and charm of Buenos Aires on this private walking tour through Plaza de Mayo and San Telmo. Begin your journey at Plaza de Mayo, the city’s historic and political centre, where you will visit the Metropolitan Cathedral and see the famous balcony of the Casa Rosada, known for Evita Peron’s iconic appearances. You will also visit San Ignacio, the oldest church in Buenos Aires, located just a short walk to the south. As you explore, your guide will share stories about the city’s past and its most important landmarks.

Continue to the traditional neighbourhood of San Telmo, famous for its cobblestone streets and well-preserved colonial architecture. Walk through the local market, admire old buildings, and enjoy the comic stroll filled with artistic character sculptures. The tour concludes at Plaza Dorrigo, a lively square surrounded by cafés and tango performers. If your visit falls on a Sunday, you will also have the chance to experience the famous antique fair, one of the city’s most popular attractions. To end your tour, relax with a drink at a traditional San Telmo coffee shop.

We chose Richard to guide us around Buenos Aires due to his excellent reviews and he didn't disappoint We started in the Recoleta Cemetery, Richards knowledge was amazing which made the visit there so interesting. Due to his great personality and immense knowledge historically and politically he really brought the city to life. We were with him all day and throughly enjoyed his company. We would highly recommend him.

Buenos Aires was going to be the final destination of our 5 week trip to Argentina and Chile so we wanted to make sure that we made the very most of this wonderful city. We contacted Richard (based on the excellent reviews) a few months ago and agreed that a full day walking tour would best suit our needs. We met Richard in the Recoleta area in an historic cafe and discussed how the day would look. Our day started with a comprehensive tour of the Recoleta cemetery. Wow! What a place..and what great knowledge Richard has of it. He really bought the place to life (not literally). I highly recommend this as a good place to start. We progressed to walking more widely around the area before taking a bus to the San Telmo area. Richard took us to his favourite place for lunch inside the market and this was great fun, then after lunch we walked more widely again around the area, meeting and being introduced to several locals along the way. We finally parted company some 8.5 hours later when Richard saw us safely into a taxi. I highly recommend Richard for his knowledge of Buenos Aires ' social and political history and in depth knowledge of the area generally. It will save you hours of wasted time trying to decide where to go and navigate your way around. Thanks Richard! It was a fun day.

Had such a great experience with Richard’s walking tour. He was both incredibly knowledgeable and deeply caring about the history and culture of Buenos Aires. Everywhere went there was someone saying hello to him, proof that the people in the city love him back! Highly recommend.

We could not have asked for a better introduction to Buenos Aires and Argentina in general than our walking tours with Richard. We did two tours with Richard: a general historical one and a tour of BA’s Jewish culture and history. Richard was incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, flexible and wonderful story teller. Not only did I appreciate what we learned on our tours with Richard, but he was also an incredible resource before we even arrived in Argentina. He was great at communicating and answered questions I had about our itinerary, getting around Argentina, even recommended a taxi driver! He went above and beyond and I couldn’t recommend him more.

A lovely and informative tour with a very kind and knowledgeable guide. Overall, we could not have asked for a better experience, one that was focused not only on the incredible history of the city, but also highlighted many aspects of that history that were of special interest to our group. 10/10
