It is a long but very rewarding hike to the summit. The views of the canyons and wadis are amazing. There is quite a lot of vegetation. Start early in the morning, at sunrise. It took me 6h to go up and 4h to go down. Take plenty of water (I drank around 4lt), food, warm clothes and a torch with you. There is almost no shade available, keep that also in mind. It is a long walk, around 22km, so best attempted if you already have some alpine experience. The path is marked very thoroughly and there are reflecting pads for the night. The military road is closed for cars, but you are allowed to walk on it. Look on Google Maps: there is a spot where the military road and the hiking path are very close to one another. This would be a good place to make the shortcut. For example if it is already dark on your descent. Other than that, enjoy the trip! It is not an easy one but it will be worth it!

Since I started hiking in Oman reaching the top of summit is in my number 1 list. I trained and hike every weekend to gained my stamina and to be mentally prepared. My hardworked paid off as I'm able to finished the summit hike in 9 hours , but not just once, I visited it couple of times.

Where earth and sky meets. How glorious. It worth every step u have taken to reach the highest land of oman and the whole GCC.

Superb place at Summit, you feel like a Conqueror at the Summit. They have a Champions Book for leaving your messages and comments. There is a Summit Memorial with Geographical details etc. Must do Hike and Achievement is unlimited Joy.

Had gone hiking on Sept 2017 with 2 of my friends here. Amazing experience and beautiful sights. There are trails all over the path. Juniper trees can be seen. It was very cold at night and do carry all the necessities.
