Food is one of the most personal ways to understand a culture, and this private in-home cooking class invites you to discover Hungary from the inside out. Step into a welcoming local kitchen, where your host introduces you to the flavours, stories, and traditions that shape Hungarian cuisine. This relaxed, hands-on experience goes far beyond a typical group class—every moment is tailored to your pace, your preferences, and your curiosity. From learning how paprika transforms a dish to hearing family recipes and cooking secrets handed down through generations, you’ll connect with Budapest in the most authentic way possible.

Over the course of 3–4 enjoyable hours, you’ll prepare a full three-course Hungarian menu, guided step by step by your host. You’ll chop, stir, season, and taste as you learn traditional techniques using fresh, local ingredients. Once everything is ready, sit down together to enjoy the meal you’ve created, served with Hungarian wine and a toast of pálinka. Whether you're an enthusiastic home chef or a total beginner, this intimate class offers a warm, genuine, and delicious window into Hungary’s culinary heart.

We have taken 2 classes here (several years apart). We had a great time, learned a lot and still use some of the recipes.

Wonderful experience - I highly recommend. We decided to do this cooking class on our first trip to Budapest and loved it. Agnes met us in the morning and took us on a tour of the central market, providing samples of Hungarian food and explaining all about the market and Hungarian cooking. The cooking lesson was fantastic and the food delicious. We chose to make beef goulash, stuffed cabbage and Hungarian pancakes. The food was fun to make, turned out delicious and Agnes was a joy to be around!

Our day with Andrew was excellent. We tried foods in the market we would have overlooked without our guide. We cooked 3 amazing dishes, two of which have made it onto our regular meal plan. The kitchen is simple but we had everything we needed. You can be as hands on (or off ) as you like, just let your host know.

Fabulous. This is a fun and unique experience. The host takes you to the market and you learn about local foods and customs. Then you head to the apartment and start cooking (and a little drinking). It's fun and the food is fabulous. Very memorable.

Fun tour of the market and we learned how to cook a few Hungarian dishes. Andrew led the class and we learned a lot and had great conversation. We can't wait to try cooking some of the food when we get home!
