This immersive journey through northern Albania takes you deep into the heart of the Albanian Alps, offering a rare opportunity to witness some of the most untouched and breathtaking landscapes in Europe. After an early breakfast, the route leads toward Lake Shkoder, through aromatic lavender fields and into limestone mountains, eventually arriving in the picturesque village of Theth. Nestled in the Thethi National Park, Theth is surrounded by dramatic peaks and traditional stone houses. The village tour introduces visitors to key cultural landmarks, including the 19th-century church, the legendary Lock-in Tower, and the old water mill—each revealing a glimpse into Albania's unique history and traditional codes of honor. Walking paths lead to the Grunasi waterfall and the narrow Gerla bridge that spans Thethi canyon, providing dramatic views that linger in memory. An overnight stay in a local guesthouse offers a warm and authentic mountain experience under starlit skies.
The adventure continues with a full-day hike through Valbona Pass, where forests and alpine meadows unfold into vast valleys and rugged peaks. Along the way, scenic highlights include waterfalls, the Rragam village, and panoramic viewpoints above both Valbona and Theth valleys. The luggage is transported by horse, allowing a lighter trek and more freedom to take in the scenery. Staying in family-run guesthouses along the route connects travelers directly with the warmth and hospitality of local life. The following day includes a hike along the “White Circle” near Rosi Peak, known for expansive views and geological diversity. The journey culminates with a ferry ride on the emerald waters of Lake Koman, winding through fjord-like mountain passages. On arrival in Kruja, you explore the historic home of Albania’s national hero, Scanderbeg, and its atmospheric Ottoman bazaar. The final leg takes you to the capital, Tirana, where the journey winds down with leisure time before your flight. This itinerary blends nature, culture, and history in a seamless adventure through some of Albania’s most unforgettable regions.

We visited Butrint National Park and were truly impressed – it’s a beautiful and enchanting place full of history. However, I left with the feeling that more investment is needed in the park. There’s still so much to be discovered, with some monuments partially buried or even underwater. It’s a site with huge potential that deserves more preservation and attention. I also think guided tours inside the park would be a great addition – I would happily pay to learn more about its rich and fascinating history!

Well worth the visit. The ancient city has a ton of history from greek, roman, ottoman and venetian times. Mix of ancient ruins and more recent castles. Unfortunately no turtles there in early October

The place is amazing, full of history, and it has a very unique charm. The only thing I missed was a little shop or a refreshment stand… The area is quite large, so I would have appreciated some place to buy water or a small snack😊

Very interesting peninsula with many ruins of Ancient Greek, Roman and Medieval structures, highlighting the historic meaning of Butrint. The visit takes about 2-3 hours and despite the heat, it was still manageable thanks to the abundance of shade. Highly recommended to visit when you are in the south of Albania

I found this to be a particularly beautiful archaeological site. It's beautifully situated in the greenery. Everything is very well preserved. Everything is well-described. Several civilizations have ruled here, a very interesting history lesson. Even though it was 40 degrees Celsius, it was still manageable, as there's plenty of shade. The entree ticket was not expensive. There was no shop with drinks on the site in our case, so maybe you should carry enough water.
