Bronze Chapter Bioluminescence Paddle
The Bronze Chapter Bioluminescence Paddle offers a three hour nighttime adventure on Bellingham Bay. This guided experience is suitable for participants aged 10 and above and welcomes both beginners and experienced paddlers. Guests can explore the water after dark while looking for naturally glowing marine life.
The bioluminescence is created by planktonic organisms that are active in local coastal waters from June through September. Guides explain why these organisms glow and share information about the marine environment and the special conditions that make the area suitable for viewing this natural phenomenon.
Participants can request different boat options based on their needs. Sit on top kayaks or rowboats may be available for children or guests who prefer additional stability or have mobility and balance concerns. Previous paddling experience is not required, but guests should be prepared to spend most of the experience on the water.
Safety remains a priority throughout the nighttime excursion. A minimum of four participants is required for the trip to operate. If this number is not reached one week before the scheduled date, the program may be canceled with options to rebook or receive a full refund. Unsafe weather conditions may also lead to cancellation or rescheduling.
