Embark on a scenic and historically rich hike along Finnsetveien, one of the oldest and most beloved hiking trails in Mo i Rana. Beginning in Fageråsen, this trail immediately immerses you in the peaceful atmosphere of the surrounding forest, following a route once used by the Sami people and later by travelers moving between Umskaret and Mo. The path is moderate and easily accessible, making it an ideal adventure for families and anyone looking for a relaxed yet rewarding outdoor experience. As you ascend gently through the forest, you’ll encounter several great spots to pause, take photos, and soak in sweeping views over the town of Mo i Rana. The destination is Appelsinhaugen, a popular local viewpoint known for its panoramic views and a charming “gapahuk” shelter filled with unique decorations and stories. The hike to the top covers approximately 2 kilometers and takes about 20 to 30 minutes each way, whether on foot or by mountain bike.

Our guided version of this hike enhances the experience with engaging storytelling and local insights as we ascend to about 170 meters above sea level. Along the way, you'll learn about the history of Finnsetveien, including how Tora Meyer led the effort to upgrade the trail in the 1930s. Once at the top—often referred to as the "roof" of Mo i Rana—you’ll be treated to stunning panoramic views that stretch across the city and surrounding landscapes. We make a cozy bonfire at the top, brew fresh coffee, and enjoy lunch together while surrounded by nature. The tour begins around 2 p.m. from the ski jump at Fageråsen and concludes by approximately 5 p.m. We offer hotel pick-up or the option to meet directly at the starting point, and maps will be available for your convenience at your hotel. Included in the experience are a guide, trail map, bonfire, and oranges—true to the name "Appelsinhaugen," or "Orange Hill." Please note, the hike requires a minimum of three participants, though smaller groups are welcome if the cost for three is covered. This is a perfect way to connect with nature, learn about local heritage, and take in some of the best views Mo i Rana has to offer.
