WE BOOKED ON-LINE IN ADVANCE OF OUR CRUISE We booked on-line in advance of our cruise, a few months before our trip. OVERALL THOUGHTS...IT WAS OK Overall, we didn't find the RIB tour that exciting or terribly informative. It was a bit different and less thrilling from previous 'fast boat rides' we've taken. We didn't get one speck of water on us! I was guaging the faces of people getting off the previous RIB tour, as well as ours and people weren't thrilled, laughing and excited, just kind of ho-hum. That's how we felt. It's quite expensive and you can see the same views on the cruise ship. We'd never been on a RIB and it was something memorable to do in Geiranger. We felt the operation was organized and well run. Staff were friendly enough, but not overly friendly. CHECK-IN The dark wooden building where you check in is a two minute walk from the cruise dock and easy to find. It's slightly set back from the street. PULL ON A DRY SUIT You check in with staff and then find a dry suit of the many hanging up that will fit you and pull it on over your existing clothing. (You will then feel like the Michelin Man!) I don't think one speck of water got on me during the RIB tour. WALK TO THE DOCK As a group, you walk through the town a few minutes and board a RIB boat at the dock. Most of the passengers on our tour were age 55+. BRING A HAT The boat tour takes place. You go fast and see a couple of waterfalls, fjord walls, other vessels and listen to some narration when stopped. I noticed most of the staff were not Norwegian. I recommend wearing a warm hat. You can take photos from the boat. DO EVERYTHING IN REVERSE You return to the dock, exit the RIB, return to the check-in building and remove your dry suit. That's it! Note: We recommend Geiranger Brygge for a beer afterwards which is directly behind the RIB tour building.

Having already come down the fjord on a cruise ship I debated about doing this RIB tour but it was absolutely worth it. The boat takes you up very close to a series of waterfalls and the pilot gives a brilliant explanation of the history of the area. They dress you in full protective gear with inflatable life jacket, so you won’t get cold, or be in any danger. Great fun, and a great way to see Geiranger up close.

It was cold, windy, and AWESOME! definitely dress for the weather- you do put on suits before you get on the boat. What a great way to see more of the fjord and learn about the culture and history. Kids loved it (age 8 and 4). Out guide Mario was awesome- Would recommend

The rib boat tour in Geiranger was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. Pedro was our tour guide and gave us more history on the region than I was expecting to get going into the tour, which was a pleasant surprise. The main event, though, is getting up close and personal with the fjords. The vantage point you're able to get from a small rib boat in a huge fjord is incredible. The photos taken and memories made on this excursion will truly last a lifetime. I cannot recommend this trip enough.

The boat trip was disappointing. It wasn’t as fast or thrilling as expected, no water splashes at all, even though we were in full gear. The experience felt more like a taxi service, lasting only 50 minutes instead of a full hour, with about 15 minutes spent dropping off and picking up hikers. We also didn’t get very close to the waterfalls, which was a letdown. Another thing to note: the cabin didn’t have any lockers or storage for personal items.
