A hands-on glass art class at the Ohio Glass Museum is attracting visitors with its beginner-friendly approach to creating custom decorative paperweights. The workshop allows participants to design their own glass piece using a selection of vibrant colors, offering an engaging introduction to traditional glassworking techniques. It is increasingly being recognized as a popular activity for families, groups, and individual visitors.

The session begins with participants selecting three favorite colors from a palette of more than sixty glass options. Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, these colors are blended into molten clear glass to form either a round or heart-shaped paperweight. The process is designed to encourage creativity while maintaining a safe and structured learning environment.

No prior experience is required, making the class accessible to children aged five and above with adult supervision as well as adult beginners. Participants are introduced to basic glass handling skills, color mixing principles, and essential safety procedures. The experience balances education with hands-on creativity, allowing attendees to experiment freely under expert guidance.

After shaping, each paperweight is carefully annealed to enhance strength and durability before being made available for pickup or optional shipping. Museum organizers note that all completed pieces must be collected within sixty days.
