The city between bridges

Our combined tour “The city between bridges” will provide an indepth picture of the creation of a capital, based on the meeting between financial stakeholders and patrons of religious philosophy. Meet the people, both ficitve and real that has come to shape the history of Stockholm and Sweden as a nation. The tour begins with a guided walk through the charming district refered to as the Old Town, where the city of Stockholm was born back in the 13th century. A district recognized by it’s cobelled alleys, pastel-colored buildings, monuments, churches and hidden corners. This district contain centuries of histories, curiosities and anecdotes, based on facts as well as mythological histories, which will give you an insight in the true origin of the city that later came to be the most important capital of northern Europe. The guided walk is followed by a guided tour of the Grand Cathedral, which houses fascination testimonies of what kind of social, political, and religious issues Stockholm has faced during it’s centuries of existence. The interiors in Gothic style, host interesting artefacts linked to the history of the Stockholm and Sweden. Amongst them, the first existing painting depicting the city of Stockholm as well as the iconic wooden statue S:t George and the Dragon. The Cathedral is, in addition to being the seat of the bishop of Stockholm, the official church of the Swedish Royal Family.
