Wildwood Stables Extends Equestrian Stay Experience in Acadia National Park

An extended eight-night equestrian stay at Wildwood Stables in Acadia National Park is offering riders an immersive blend of horse care and outdoor exploration. Set amid forested landscapes and historic carriage roads, the experience allows guests to live alongside their horses while enjoying one of Maine’s most tranquil natural settings.

The facility is equipped with three barns featuring spacious stalls, water spigots, and dedicated bathing areas for horses. From this base, guests can ride or drive along Acadia’s extensive network of carriage roads, taking in quiet forest scenery, fresh air, and the park’s characteristic coastal woodland environment.

Nine on-site campsites with RV hookups provide access to electricity, water, and essential utilities, enabling participants to combine overnight camping with daily equestrian responsibilities. The self-care model encourages active involvement in horse management, creating a hands-on experience closely tied to the rhythms of outdoor life.

Strict entry and health requirements remain in place, including proof of negative Coggins test, EHV-1 (Rhino), Rabies vaccination, and a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection for non-residents. With limited cell reception and no Wi-Fi available, guests are encouraged to arrive fully prepared. The experience emphasizes independence, responsibility, and a deep connection to Acadia’s historic carriage road landscape.
