Embark on a scenic journey from Durban, heading north along the KwaZulu-Natal coastline toward the renowned Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve. Approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes after departure, you’ll arrive at the park’s gate, where your experienced guide will take you on an unforgettable safari in a closed vehicle. As the oldest proclaimed game reserve in Africa, Hluhluwe-Imfolozi spans 98,000 hectares of rolling hills, rich savannah, and diverse ecosystems. Home to Africa’s iconic Big 5 — lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo, and rhino — the park also boasts an extraordinary range of birdlife and wildlife. The northern Hluhluwe section is known for its biodiversity, while the southern Imfolozi area is celebrated for white rhino conservation and innovative wildlife management practices, including the world-renowned Centenary Capture Centre.
Midday, you’ll stop for lunch at Hilltop Camp (own expense), where you can unwind and enjoy panoramic views of the park. After your meal, the safari continues, offering more chances to spot wildlife before heading to the nearby DumaZulu Cultural Village. Located in traditional Zulu territory near Hluhluwe Village, DumaZulu is South Africa’s largest Zulu cultural village. Here, you’ll take a guided walk through a recreated Zulu homestead, witnessing age-old customs and craftsmanship including spear-making, beadwork, pottery, and the spiritual art of Sangoma bone throwing. A vibrant performance of Zulu dancing rounds out the visit, offering a rich and authentic insight into the culture and daily life of the Zulu people in this living museum.

Lovely place. My group had a lot of elderly people so moving about was sometimes challenging.

Breakfast not to good run out off food do not refill and cold dinner not to bad

The cultural experience is highly recommended for those seeking to understand diversity. The tour was interesting and informative. Fikile who is a cultural guide, was friendly and versatile which various groups which I observed both local scholars and international guests who attended the cultural experience.

This gem has such a magical quality. You can shop here or just enjoy the culture. They are ready to answer all your questions and put up a lovely song and dance show which depicts the culture so beautifully. In addition there is a hut which is used to depict the medicines used. The ladies are very willing to dress you and the garments are such exotic and stunning. It is definitely worth a visit if you are going anywhere are Hluhluwe.

A great place to be around for peace of mind and experiencing the beauty of African cultures. So clean and neat. The stuff were fantastic, unfortunately the storms caused so much damages to the water pump, and Eskom took forever (More than 4 days) to fix the problem, but we were offered an alternative (Bushland) without any cost. That alone showed us what kind of people we were dealing with .. they are superb and excellent.
