We start the tour at Arnarstapi with a short briefing where you learn how to use crampons and an ice axe safely. The guide explains rope team movement and safety on ice, preparing everyone for the glacier climb. After the briefing we drive to the starting point and begin the steady ascent. The route gains roughly one thousand meters in elevation but is gradual and paced so everyone can manage comfortably. Your guide is always with you to adjust pace and ensure safety.
During the climb the guide also takes photos so you can enjoy the experience without worrying about capturing every moment. Reaching the summit depends on weather and safety conditions, so it is not guaranteed. From higher elevations the views are breathtaking and on special days like a solar eclipse the scenery becomes extraordinary. On those occasions the Snæfellsnes Peninsula offers a clear view of the shadow passing and totality can last over two minutes. The combination of glacier terrain, careful guidance, and natural events makes this adventure both memorable and safe for all participants.
