Improve your underwater orientation skills with the SSI Navigation specialty course designed to help divers move confidently and accurately beneath the surface. Underwater navigation is an essential diving skill that helps divers understand their location direction and safe return paths during a dive. During this course experienced instructors teach simple techniques that make navigation easier and more reliable even in unfamiliar dive sites.
Participants learn how to use an underwater compass along with natural navigation methods such as observing underwater landmarks light direction and seabed formations. The course takes place over one day from morning until early afternoon followed by a short exam session later in the day. Divers also complete two training dives where they practice navigation exercises in real underwater conditions. After successful completion participants receive the SSI Navigation Specialty certification which helps build confidence and improves overall diving safety and awareness.
