Powerboating Course Builds Skills at Upton Warren
Adults seeking to gain confidence on the water are being offered the opportunity to master essential boating skills through the RYA Level Two Powerboat Handling course at Aztec Adventure Upton Warren. Designed for beginners and those with some previous experience, the programme provides comprehensive training in the safe and efficient operation of powerboats.
Led by trained and DBS-checked instructors, the course combines practical and theoretical instruction to develop key handling techniques. Participants learn a range of essential skills, including launching and recovering a powerboat, anchoring, securing to a buoy, coming alongside, and performing man overboard procedures. Training also includes low-speed close-quarters manoeuvring and an introduction to operating at planing speed.
In addition to practical exercises, students are introduced to collision regulations and fundamental seamanship principles, helping them build the situational awareness required for safe inland boating. Structured exercises and realistic scenarios enable participants to develop confidence while gaining valuable hands-on experience using fully equipped powerboats and safety equipment.
Successful participants receive a certificate recognising their ability to operate a powerboat independently within safe limits while understanding both personal and vessel capabilities. Organisers say the course provides a strong foundation for recreational boating enthusiasts and those wishing to pursue further qualifications, combining expert instruction, practical experience, and essential safety knowledge in a supportive learning environment.

Customer Reviews
This is my course with power boat training. There are a friendly, professional and caring company. Excellent instructors. That teach with patients and understanding. Truly are an amazing company that will get you on the water with confidence
What an amazing experience from start to finish. Friendly, professional staff who went out of their way to help and support us on this course. I feel so much more confident in my abilities and have learnt so much to enhance my knowledge. Even when our boat broke down Robin went out of his way to make sure we were safe. He organised a tow back to the marina and then even found us an engineer to fix the boat. I would highly recommend this fabulous team of people and would be happy to do further courses with them in the future.
Just completed my 3rd course with PBT UK, great experience as always. Robin was really easy to learn Off and Poole harbour is an amazing training location! Can’t wait to come back.
