Engineering Challenges

Take the Challenge at Pima Air and Space Museum and inspire students through exciting hands on engineering activities. These engaging sessions invite students to work in small teams to solve creative design problems guided by museum staff. Teachers may choose from the Cargo Plane Challenge, Parachute Drop Challenge, or Mars Lander Challenge, each encouraging teamwork, problem solving, and critical thinking. Students design, test, and improve their creations while connecting science and engineering concepts to real world aviation and space exploration. Each challenge lasts approximately thirty minutes and is designed to enhance a scheduled field trip experience.

All activities are conducted onsite and require advance booking as part of a museum visit. Group size per session is limited, and required chaperone ratios must be followed. Teachers are included in the ratio, and extra adults may not enter the classroom due to space limitations. Student limits per day apply based on grade level, and backpacks are not permitted for students. Bookings must be completed in advance, and cancellations must be submitted in writing within the required timeframe. These interactive challenges provide an exciting way to strengthen learning through creativity and collaboration.
