The student canoe trip from Leun to Runkel is a unique two-day adventure that combines teamwork, nature, and history. Students travel easily via the Lahn Valley Railway and meet at Leun train station for a safety and paddling briefing before starting at 10:30 am. The first day covers approximately 22 kilometers to Gräveneck, passing the Selters mineral spring, the Löhnberg hand-operated lock, and the Weilburg shipping tunnel. Students paddle together, learn cooperation, and experience decision making on the water. The evening is spent at the Gräveneck campsite, where students can set up tents, enjoy a barbecue, and relax by the river. On the second day, the route continues about 18 to 21 kilometers along peaceful sections of the Lahn River, with stops at the Villmar Marble Bridge and old quarry before reaching Runkel. The impressive castle in Runkel marks the end of the tour, and the boats are collected at the ramp near the train station for an easy return journey. The trip offers a perfect balance of exercise, outdoor learning, and social development.

This tour is suitable for beginners and school groups and emphasizes independence, teamwork, and responsibility. Life jackets are mandatory for children under 12 and non-swimmers, and the trip runs in all weather conditions.
