The three day canoe trip from Leun to Limburg offers a mix of nature, culture, and scenic views along the Lahn River. The tour starts at Leun Lahn train station between ten and ten thirty am with a short briefing on paddling and lock operation. On the first day, paddlers pass through the Löhnberg lock, the historic Weilburg shipping tunnel, and the Koppel lock before arriving at Gräveneck campsite for the night. The second day continues past Aumenau and Villmar, home to the famous marble bridge and King Konrad Rock, before reaching Runkel campsite at the foot of the castle. The final day takes you past Dehrn Castle and into the district town of Limburg, where the historic cathedral and old town mark the end of the trip. An optional extension allows paddling further to Diez, where there is a convenient take out point. The Lahn Valley Railway runs hourly from Limburg, making the return journey to Leun simple and convenient.
Over the three days, participants experience calm river waters, lush forests, and charming riverside villages while stopping at beer gardens, campsites, and picnic areas. Canoes, paddles, life jackets for children and non swimmers, and waterproof barrels are supplied. The tour is self guided, allowing travelers to paddle at their own pace. Safety is emphasized with mandatory life jackets for children and non swimmers. Suitable for beginners, families, and groups, this trip combines relaxation, adventure, and cultural landmarks in a flexible and scenic itinerary along one of Germanys most beautiful rivers.
