Malacca, often called the “Historical State” of Malaysia, offers a rich glimpse into the country’s past as one of the earliest Malaysian sultanates. Unlike Kuala Lumpur, Malacca is renowned for its deep historical roots as one of the oldest trading cities in the world, strategically located on the Strait of Malacca. This prime position attracted colonial powers such as the Portuguese, Dutch, and British, whose influences are still evident today in the city’s culture, infrastructure, and lifestyle. Recognized for its historical significance, Malacca was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008, boosting its popularity among travelers.
Your tour begins at Dutch Square, home to the striking salmon-pink Stadhuys, once the Dutch governor’s residence and now a museum showcasing Malacca’s rich history and artifacts. You will also visit A Famosa, the surviving gate of the Portuguese fortress built in 1511, making it one of the oldest European structures in Southeast Asia. A guided walk through the historic center will introduce you to the Portuguese and Dutch architectural influences visible in landmarks like Porta de Santiago and the Stadhuys, providing a fascinating educational experience.
You will also explore key attractions such as Cheng Hoon Teng, Malaysia’s oldest functioning Taoist temple, and Jonker Street, famous for its antiques, unique shops, local souvenirs, and delicious delicacies. The tour includes a delicious lunch prepared in authentic Malaccan style, giving you a full taste of the local culture. This affordable and highly popular tour is ideal for those eager to discover the rich heritage and vibrant atmosphere of this extraordinary city.

I enjoyed the little climb up the hill. Beautiful view. Nice little piece of local history. But a little anticlimactic once you reach the top. The church upstairs is empty with what I believe to be tombstone just placed against the walls. Despite reading about it over and over again...didn't really understand. Were those listed buried under the church? Either way, enjoyed it. Going on a Monday is good, less crowd. What I'll change is remove those vendors up on the hill selling souvenirs and what not, I'm not trying to disrupt businesses but it really spoils the vibe when you're up there trying to enjoy an important piece of history and some guy in his tent be blasting music selling labubu and what not.

Such a beautiful spot! The view from the hill is amazing. You can see the whole of Melaka 😍 It’s quite crowded but the atmosphere feels lively. A very interesting historical site with so much to learn about the past. Totally worth the climb. Peaceful and full of history

the old ruins of the portughese fort who once held malacca as one of their strategic trading ports in the spice wars. very popular amongst chinese traveller groups, its a rather tacky experience at sunset and later at night, as the whole town lits up in colorful lights - but still the main attraction of malacca.

No entrance ticket to visit this site. An iconic historical landmark with a rich heritage. Beautiful spot for photos, especially with the old fort ruins. But it gonna be super hot if you came here in the afternoon. The surrounding area is clean and well-kept. The location is walkable distance to any other attractions in Malacca city.

📍A Famosa -No need for a ticket -Iconic historical landmark with a rich heritage. -Beautiful spot for photos, especially with the old fort ruins. -Surrounding area is clean and well-kept. -Easy to access, located near other attractions in Malacca city. 📝 A great place to experience Malacca’s history and take memorable pictures. Adding more historical details and shaded spots would make it more enjoyable for visitors.
