Ocean Kayaking

This guided Ocean Kayaking tour offers an exciting opportunity to explore the marine protected areas of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, home to a diverse array of wildlife including bottlenose dolphins, harbor seals, Garibaldi (California’s marine state fish), and rays. Participants can experience the Catalina Channel’s famous underwater reserve while paddling in single or tandem sit-on-top kayaks. Highly skilled guides provide a safe, fun, and informative tour, pointing out highlights as you navigate the waters. Depending on the wind and conditions, the tour may head north to Pelican Cove for views of the lighthouse or eastward to explore Sacred Cove and its many sea caves. All necessary equipment, including sandals, personal flotation devices, and helmets, is provided, and participants are advised to wear comfortable swimwear as you are likely to get wet. Waterproof phone cases are available for purchase to capture the adventure.

The duration of the kayaking experience is approximately 1.5 hours, and participants should arrive at Beach Cove 15 minutes early to ensure a prompt departure. This is a physically demanding activity, requiring participants to be comfortable descending and ascending rocky beaches and wading into the water for both launch and landing. All participants must be at least six years old, and minors under 18 must be accompanied by a participating parent or legal guardian. Winds typically increase throughout the day, so morning sessions generally offer a gentler paddle.
