At 8:00 am, your guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel, and you will begin your journey with a 1.5-hour drive to Jade Gate Pass, historically known as Yumenguan. Alongside Yang Pass, Jade Gate Pass served as one of the two critical military outposts protecting ancient Dunhuang during the Han Dynasty. Situated near an oasis in the vast Gobi Desert, the ruins of Jade Gate Pass offer a glimpse into the strategic importance and isolation of these ancient frontier defenses. As you explore the site, you’ll be immersed in the silence of the desert, imagining the historic Silk Road travelers who once passed through these same gates.

Following your visit, you will continue on to the Han Dynasty Great Wall Ruins, which were constructed more than 2,000 years ago. This remote section of the Great Wall stretches toward Lop Nur and is a remarkable testament to the reach and ambition of the Han Empire. After marveling at the historical remains, you will drive another 1.5 hours to Yadan Geological National Park, famously known as the “Ghost City.” Located near Lop Nur, this striking landscape features unique wind-eroded clay formations that emit eerie sounds on breezy days, lending to its haunting name. The site also lies along a key route of the ancient Silk Road. Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant during the tour. After a full day of exploration through desert history and natural wonders, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel where this memorable journey concludes.
