On Day 1, your guide will meet you at 8:00 am in the lobby of your Beijing hotel, and you will embark on a 3-hour drive to Gubeikou, a less-visited section of the Great Wall. Upon arrival, your hike begins toward Wohu Hill, offering a unique experience on the untouched wall with minimal tourist presence and incredible views of the surrounding mountains. Continuing the trek, you will head in the direction of Jinshanling, another breathtaking and remote section of the Great Wall. In the afternoon, you will arrive at the designated campsite where you can take a shower and enjoy some free time to relax and absorb the peaceful surroundings. Dinner will be served at a local farmer’s house, offering a taste of the regional cuisine, and your overnight accommodation will be at the campsite near the Great Wall — a truly special experience under the stars.
On Day 2, after breakfast at the campsite, you will resume hiking along the quieter, original section of the Great Wall toward Jinshanling. This stretch offers even more panoramic vistas and ancient watchtowers, ideal for both photography and quiet reflection. Following your hike, you will have a well-earned lunch before being transferred back to your hotel in Beijing, marking the end of this memorable adventure on one of China's most iconic historical landmarks.

We did a two days and one night Great Wall camping trip (2AA) and had an amazing experience. From the booking process with Angela who made booking the right trip for us very easy and even assisting us with a last minute requested change due to bad weather in the area, she made sure we were all set for our adventure. For our trip, our amazing guide Oliver was very knowledgeable about the areas we were hiking and camping in as well as general Great Wall history. He was fun, made sure we stayed on track and all had a great time and ate great food along the way! I would highly recommend booking with Great Wall Adventure Club for your trip to the Great Wall and make sure to request Oliver as your guide!

That is a total waste of money!! They take so much money and there is no quality in this tour!! They not even take you to the good part of the wall and you get to the tent after it's dark. So there is no camping feeling at all. It was a joke of a tour! The tour guide was a older ladie without any energy. We walked really really really slow and she needed a lot of breaks. You should do the wall on your own for sure!!

Extremely disappointing experience. I made my reservation a month in advance, only to have it abruptly cancelled with the excuse that it was “a holiday and would be too crowded.” This was common knowledge when I booked—everyone in China knows how busy holidays can be. The person I spoke with even discouraged me from visiting Gubeikou, calling it a “fake Watertown,” which I was already aware of. It felt like a poor attempt to deflect blame and avoid confrontation. I can't help but wonder if they overbooked and are now canceling early reservations made at lower prices. This level of unprofessionalism has left a sour impression before I’ve even set foot in China.

April 2025 2 Australians private tour - just did a 3 day / 2 night hike with guide Luis. This trip blew all our expectations out of the water and would highly recommend to anyone to take the path less traveled and visit the old unrestored sections of the wall away from the tourist trap. We camped one night and the second night opted for a farm stay due to weather, and glad we did. The food provided was amazing and more than we could eat, Luis was awesome, and organisation was top notch. Can’t recommend enough, worth every cent.

One of the best experiences of my life. We hiked for two days, one of which we were suppose to stay in one of the guard towers, but due to weather we decided to stay in a hotel. Our guide Weaver was awesome, and he also showed us around Beijing. I would highly recommend hiking the old wall and not the tourist plagued locations. Sleeping in a guard tower is on my bucket list, so I will be booking with GWAC in the future.
