This private 2-day tour provides a unique opportunity to travel round-trip by bullet train from Beijing to the ancient town of Pingyao in Shanxi Province. As one of China’s best-preserved historical towns and a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pingyao offers visitors a vivid glimpse into life during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Upon arrival, you will be immersed in the town’s rich cultural atmosphere, starting with a walk along the Old City Wall of Pingyao — a centuries-old fortification that still encircles the town.
Your guided exploration will also include visits to the traditional banking institutions that once made Pingyao the financial center of imperial China, the stately Confucius Temple that reflects the educational values of the era, and the well-preserved County Government Office (Yamun), where justice and administration were once carried out. This short yet insightful journey offers a firsthand look into the architecture, customs, and heritage of Chinese society 200 years ago, making it an ideal cultural escape from Beijing.

Amy did an amazing job with my itinerary! She was super responsive and helpful with the many questions I had. I also want to give a shout-out to my amazing guides. Don in Tibet, Sanoj in Nepal, and Thukten and driver Naslam in Bhutan! All were incredible and made sure I was well taken care of. Their knowledge of their respective countries was super impressive, and I highly recommend all of you for travel to Tibet, Nepal, and Bhutan! Namaste!

After miss visiting Tibet for 2 times in previous occasions our Tibetan dream came true 100% due to the outstanding service provided by “Asia Odyssey” Travel company, particularly its staff “Nicole”. We were contacted immediately by Nicole just after we made an inquiry though their website. From that moment until we back home safely her close contact, communication, follow up, friendliness, politeness, punctuality, responsiveness, kindness, accuracy, positive attitude were unbelievable and unmatched. We always felt Nicole as a previously known person/ family member than an employee from a travel company. Her service was such personalized and we didn’t have to worry on a single matter and everything went super perfect. We don’t have enough words to praise her outstanding service we received and we believe she is such a rare gem for the company. We once again thank “Asia Odyssey” & “NICOLE” for taking care of us very well and offering us one of the most unforgettable memories of our life by coordinating a tour to Tibet. Once again thank you very much and we highly recommend this company & its staff (Specially Nicole 😊 ) to anyone who plans to travel to Tibet.

An Unforgettable Chengdu–Lhasa–Nepal Adventure with Asia Odyssey Travel We just returned from an incredible journey arranged by Asia Odyssey Travel, and I can’t recommend them highly enough—especially our wonderful travel consultant Noemi, based in Chengdu. Our trip began in Chengdu, a vibrant and clean city with amazing food. Visiting the panda base and seeing so many pandas up close was a total cuteness overload! From there, Noemi designed a thoughtful and well-paced itinerary that took us by train to Lhasa, across the stunning Tibetan plateau, and ended at the Nepal border. Securing soft sleeper train tickets to Lhasa is notoriously difficult, but Noemi kept us constantly updated and managed to get us the rare soft-bed cabins, which made the 36-hour ride comfortable and restful. Noemi stayed in touch with us throughout the trip, even arranging a personal handover of our Tibet Travel Permits and surprising us with birthday cakes and gifts. She offered to send us off at the train station, too—her dedication was amazing! All logistics were smoothly handled, and we truly didn’t need to worry about anything—just to follow their excellent advice for coping with high altitude. We took Rhodiola rosea (Hong Jing Tian) or Diamox, stayed hydrated, and followed the tip to avoid showering on our first day in Lhasa and rest instead. It really helped! Hotels were clean, comfortable, and spacious, with in-room oxygen available. Our vehicle also carried portable oxygen canisters, which gave us peace of mind. In Tibet, our guide Nomad and driver were excellent—always on time, knowledgeable, and kind. Nomad even acted as our photographer and helped us explore authentic Tibetan cuisine based on our preferences. The highlight of the trip? Without a doubt, seeing Mount Everest at Base Camp as the clouds parted—an unforgettable, bucket-list moment. After crossing the border into Nepal (end of the Asia Odyssey portion), we arranged our own car to Kathmandu, which involved a bit of bargaining, but the rest of the journey was seamless thanks to their thorough planning and support. This trip was more than a vacation—it was a truly memorable and deeply supported journey. Thank you, Noemi and Asia Odyssey Travel! We wouldn’t hesitate to travel with you again for any future China adventure.

We did a 15 day guided private tour all around China with Asia Odyssey and it was a once in a lifetime experience. We went to Beijing, Xi’An, Chengdu, Guilin, Zhangjiajie, and Shanghai. Every day was action packed, every guide was extremely helpful and pleasant to be around. Our trip consultant Isaac Wei was very responsive and thorough. Overall it was an amazing experience and couldn’t have asked for more.

We used Asia Odyssey Tours to help plan a trip from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou and back. Martin was my point of contact and his communication was friendly, professional and prompt. Everything went smoothly and guides and drivers were reliable. The price was good compared to other English-speaking private tours I researched but of course, expensive compared to local private tours. We were happy with the service provided.
