Discover an ancient engineering marvel and a place of profound cultural significance on this private day trip from Chengdu. Your personal guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive about an hour to the UNESCO-listed Dujiangyan Irrigation System. Built around 256 BC by the Qin state, this remarkable water management project on the Min River transformed the Sichuan basin by conserving water and controlling floods. It continues to irrigate over 2,000 square miles of farmland today. Your guide will share fascinating insights into how this ancient system helped shape the region’s prosperity and prevented flooding in nearby areas.
After exploring Dujiangyan, enjoy a delicious lunch before heading to Mount Qingcheng, one of the most important Taoist centers in China. Known as the place where the legendary Yellow Emperor studied, Qingcheng is celebrated as one of the most peaceful and secluded mountains under heaven. Take a cable car to the summit to visit the historic Shanqing Temple and its ancient relics, followed by a stop at Laojun Pavilion, located at the highest peak. From here, you can admire breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape before descending and returning to Chengdu to conclude your enriching day.

2000 years old dam to control flood and is still working as per design. Nice scenery with an ancient temple. Worth a visit. Best to engage a guide to explain the history of the place.

Visiting this place incl Selfie Panda , Guanxian Ancient Town (nothing much there and food was horrible) and 都江堰 (南桥 Nanqiao Bridge) - best when it is dark. If u hv no time , I do not think u miss much .

Definitely worth the visit! It's a nice day trip from Chengdu. Beautiful nature, temples and an amazing padoga on the top of the hill with a great view. When you get to the top floor, you can buy the traditional red ribbon, tie to a big bell and ring it. The old town is cute for a little stroll and a bite.

A charming riverside town filled with historic shopping streets offering all kinds of tourist souvenirs. Just 30 minutes by train (¥10) from downtown Chengdu, it's a convenient getaway. The area has plenty of dining options, though prices tend to be higher than in the city center. The main attraction costs ¥80 to enter, featuring scenic hiking trails—though the views outside are just as good. For the best experience, stay until evening to see the stunning light displays—it’s absolutely worth it!

An impressive complex for the preservation of pandas. There are many pavilions where you can see pandas but this requires quite a bit of walking. We did the tour in July and we were exhausted from the heat (in fact, the pandas were kept inside with air conditioning as it was too hot for them). All and all, it's an impressive place but it requires a lot of time and effort to see a few pandas.
