The tour begins in the charming village of Virpazar, one of the earliest settlements in the region. Here, you will prepare the kayaks, secure your belongings in dry bags, and receive a short briefing with instructions to ensure a safe and enjoyable journey. The adventure starts by paddling through the small Crmnica River, passing under the historic Old Bridge built in the early twentieth century. As you glide further, the river opens into an area of tall water grass, a nature reserve that is home to a remarkable variety of bird species. Continuing onward, you will reach the stunning Skadar Lake, one of Montenegro’s national parks, known for its pristine waters and rich wildlife.
The journey continues with paddling along the lake, where you will pass the small island of Grmozur, featuring an abandoned fort that once served as a prison in the nineteenth century. Further along, you will visit the eighteenth-century Lesendro Fort, another historical landmark, as well as other deserted forts scattered on nearby islands. After exploring these fascinating sites, the tour stops at Pelinovo Beach, offering a perfect spot for a refreshing swim and drinks. Once re-energized, you will paddle back along the same scenic route, returning to Virpazar while enjoying the peaceful landscapes and the unique experience of gliding through one of Montenegro’s most beautiful natural settings. This tour combines history, nature, and adventure for an unforgettable day on the water.
