GMG Prairie Creek Redwoods Guided Hike

This easy and scenic hike is highly recommended for first time visitors to Redwood National and State Parks and takes place in the beautiful Prairie Creek Redwoods area. The mostly flat trail leads through open meadows and peaceful forest where some of the tallest trees on Earth rise more than three hundred feet overhead. Roosevelt elk and black tailed deer often graze nearby while a calm creek supports wildlife and native salmon. Walking among these giants creates a quiet and awe inspiring experience that feels far removed from everyday life.

The trail also passes remarkable old growth redwoods that have only been identified in recent decades. Among them are ancient trees over a thousand years old and hidden groves filled with exceptionally tall giants rarely seen by most visitors. With gentle terrain minimal elevation gain and a relaxed pace this hike is accessible to all ages and abilities. Guided interpretation adds depth and meaning making this three to four hour walk both memorable and enriching.
