Eimverk Distillery is the first and only whisky distillery in Iceland and a perfect destination for curious travelers and devoted whisky fans. Visitors are welcomed into a warm and authentic setting where Icelandic craftsmanship takes center stage. Inside the distillery you discover how Floki single malt whisky is created using Icelandic barley grown on the family farm. The process reflects patience and respect for nature from grain to glass. Every step highlights a deep connection to land tradition and independent spirit.
During this intimate tour guests gain insight into traditional production methods including barley smoking and classic pot distillation. Stories shared along the way connect Icelandic barley to Viking explorers early settlers and the modern revival of local grain farming. A guided tasting is woven naturally into the experience allowing guests to sample award winning Floki whisky alongside Vor gin and Viti brennivin. Each spirit is infused with native botanicals that reflect the raw beauty of Iceland. This experience blends culture flavor and storytelling making it a memorable and meaningful stop for anyone visiting Reykjavik.

Whilst the actual tour was short, the tasting session was fantastic. Our guide was interesting and knowledgeable about the drinks served with some interesting tidbits about Iceland as a whole.

My spouse and I had a fantastic experience at Eimverk Distillery. Rock was an outstanding host and tour guide—clearly passionate about his work and incredibly knowledgeable about the unique Icelandic ingredients and processes that make these spirits so special. He was also very personable, and we had great conversations throughout the tour, which made the experience feel relaxed and personal rather than scripted. The spirits themselves were excellent—truly unlike any gins or whiskies we’ve had before. You can really taste how distinctive the ingredients and approach are, and it makes Eimverk stand out in a big way. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Reykjavik area, whether you’re a spirits enthusiast or just looking for a memorable, uniquely Icelandic experience.

Roc was an amazing instructor, he was very informative, you can tell that he cares for the art in whisky making. Great activity to do while in Reykjavik!!

We left with very mixed feelings following the tasting. The positives: You really get to try a lot of different spirits, I think we tried 2 gins and 9 whiskeys, and it was super interesting being able to compare and contrast them all. Also the spirits themselves were all very tasty. Nice selection of souvenirs available to buy (but be careful as the price list is a bit misleading and our host was unwilling to entertain this criticism so we left feeling very overcharged). The negatives: our host Rock, while very informative, came across as very blunt, and often bordering on rude, and seemed very dismissive of the majority of questions from guests. Then the downside of being able to taste so many different whiskeys was that the experience felt very rushed, with the host focussed on getting us through them all with very small servings and almost no time to appreciate them - it would definitely have worked better to have allowed a bit more time for the tasting. The rushed nature probably contributed to the apparent rudeness from our host. Overall we enjoyed the whiskeys, but left with a bit of a sour taste in our mouths from the experience unfortunately

Great tour / tasting. You definitely get your money’s worth. Lots of booze. They say they are the only whiskey maker in Iceland and they use all locally sourced Icelandic ingredients. The guide is very entertaining and speaks English very well. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

Amazing and unique and the guide was the best! Equal parts fun and informative, can’t recommend enough.

Amazing! We were the only ones there, possibly due to the weather but honestly that made it even better. Rock kindly explained everything to us, was super knowledgeable, and even was open to conversation during the tour, listening to our thoughts on the tastes and anecdotes we had. The history of the company and the process they’ve gone through to develop their whiskey was truly interesting and inspiring. Great way to end our time in Iceland. Looking forward to gifting a bottle to my mom!

Our guy knew his stuff. He was also so funny! It was a very extensive tasting. Would recommend for whiskey and gin lovers

We’ve done our share of commercial distillery tours and tastings in the U.S. and if you’re looking for an intimate and personalized distillery tour and tasting, this is worth every Icelandic kroner. Our guide / distiller (forgive me as his name escapes me, but a very informed and humorous German gentleman) was great. He took the time to not only educate us about their process, but allowed us to taste the terrific selection of gins, whiskeys and more.
Stephanie

Sheep dung smoked whiskey! Yep!! It was super cool, and the whiskies are great. The only true Icelandic whiskey distillery was informative and a wonderful visit. Dörthe was the best! She helped us with the history and understanding more about Icelandic Whiskey, Flóki. Go visit while you're in Iceland. You won't regret it!
