Lapinha Cave + Sumidouro Park

Discover a different world with the underground caves of Lund. This tour takes you through the speleothems and formations that fascinated the Danish researcher Peter Lund, known as the father of paleontology, speleology, and archaeology in the 19th century. Lund studied around 200 caves in the Lagoa Santa region, discovering approximately 12,000 bones of prehistoric animals, modern animals, and humans dating back 10,000 years. Most of these findings are preserved at the Natural History Museum in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The itinerary begins with a walk along the Sumidouro Trail, lasting about one hour and thirty minutes, inside a protected park area. Travelers will see ancient rock paintings, the Sumidouro Lagoon, and a lookout point for photos. A snack is included during the trail. Afterward, there will be a guided visit to the Lapinha Museum and Cave, offering an unforgettable opportunity to explore the underground world and learn about its history and discoveries.
