Royal Road Diamond Trail on Rails

The trip begins with a ride on the train, a word that identifies the people of Minas Gerais and also refers to the locomotive, a historic means of transport that has touched many lives. On this itinerary, travelers will enjoy the unique experience of riding the only daily passenger train in Brazil. The locomotive is modern and the cars are luxurious, imported from Romania, featuring air conditioning, wi fi, a cafeteria, and a restaurant. After the train ride, the journey continues by car or van to Bicame de Pedras, an old aqueduct and the starting point of a light 8 kilometer hike. The trail follows the Diamond Route of the Estrada Real to the Conceição Church in Catas Altas. Lunch is included at a local restaurant offering craft beers and stunning views of Serra do Caraça. After lunch, travelers will enjoy a guided tour of the church and a viewpoint perfect for photos.
