We did this cooking class almost a year ago and STILL talk about how fantastic it was! We loved getting a tour of the local market and hearing about the generations of butchers who have worked there and how they care for the animals that provide us so much nourishment! Walking around the city was a great way to relax before making a fabulous meal! We made an egg omelette and then a steak dinner with the local red peppers that are so beyond delicious I can’t even describe their sweet caramelized flavor! The basque cheesecake steels the show though! Talk about a grand finale to the meal! Highly recommend taking the time to do this class!!

My wife and I joined Carlos and our fabulous team when we visited beautiful Donostia in early July. What a wonderful experience it turned out to be. The experience of 1st visiting the market to learn about the origins of the food we were to cook was 1st rate. Carlos' passion and knowledge were evident. We both learnt new cooking skills and enjoyed the dishes paired with lovely local wines. Great fun in a great location and fantastic staff guiding us.

Kookin Donosti This was our first ever cooking class and it was great! We adore the delicious cuisine of Donostia and the Basque region, and we are so happy that we chose ‘Kookin Donosti’ as Carlos and Lutxo were excellent (and fun!) teachers and guides and the space was extremely cool, well provisioned, and beautiful. First, we went shopping for our ingredients at the historic local underground market (e.g., cod, fruits) and learned so much about the history and culture of the local food scene through this process. Second, we headed back to the gorgeous ‘Kookin Donosti’ kitchen to cook tortillas (cod omelette), steak, basque cheesecake! We ate each of our creations with lovely cider and wines that Carlos curated for us. It was as super fun and delicious!! Two extra added bonuses: -We got to do the class with a fantastic couple (and our new friends!) from the Netherlands and Denmark. They were great, and we laughed a lot. It’s a very social, good time! -We got lovely swag to take home! 10 out of 10, highly recommend!!!

An amazing experience that exceeded expectations in all aspects. The market was such a great start showing not only Carlos’ ethos but also giving personal an insight into the market traders . I think what I loved most was that we were tourists but it didn’t feel touristy ! We were lucky to be joined by a lovely couple of ladies which added to the event . The cooking was informative fun and delicious with just the right balance of instruction, information and informal chat . Loved the venue too. The area we sat to eat and drink was informal but everything was of a lovely quality - crocks, pots, cooking utensils , wine ….I could go on but will just say if you are in SanSebastian you really should do this !
