Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga Temple is a highly sacred and divine place, known as the 12th and last Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva. Visiting this holy temple was a truly blessed and peaceful experience for us. We reached the area at night around 12:30 am and easily got a nearby hotel for rest. Early in the morning at 4:30 am, we started our journey towards the temple with great devotion and faith. We were fortunate to have the sacred Jyotirlinga darshan at around 5:20 am, which was calm and spiritually uplifting. Early morning darshan gives a pure and serene feeling and allows devotees to connect deeply with Lord Shiva. According to history and legends, the temple is associated with the story of Ghushma, a devoted woman whose sincere prayers led to the manifestation of Lord Shiva in the form of this Jyotirlinga. The temple reflects ancient architecture and spiritual significance and has been rebuilt and preserved over centuries, including restoration during the Maratha period. The market outside the temple is nice and lively, offering puja items and prasad. There is also another small temple just outside the main complex, which adds to the spiritual experience. Overall, Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga Temple is a must-visit for every Shiva devotee. The divine energy and peaceful darshan make it unforgettable. Om Namah Shivaya 🙏
Shri Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga, located in Verul, Maharashtra, close to the iconic Ellora Caves, is one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and a truly divine place to visit 🙌🏻 Even on a peak weekend, the darshan was well-managed and took around 30 minutes. The temple administration is cooperative, and the premises are clean, orderly, and well maintained, which adds greatly to the overall experience. The temple is especially admired for its beautiful architectural details and intricate carvings. One important ritual to note is that male devotees are not allowed to wear shirts or t-shirts while offering prayers—a centuries-old tradition that is still strictly followed. What makes this Jyotirlinga particularly special is that devotees are allowed to go close to the Shivling and personally offer prayers and seek blessings, similar to Bhimashankar. This is quite rare among Jyotirlinga temples and makes the darshan deeply fulfilling. The overall atmosphere is extremely peaceful and divine, leaving you with a sense of calm and gratitude. A must-visit if you’re in or around Ellora an experience filled with devotion and blessings ✨🙏
The Grishneshwar Jyotirlinga, located just a stone’s throw from the majestic Ellora Caves in Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad), is the 12th and final Jyotirlinga. My visit here was a pleasant surprise compared to other major shrines; we got incredibly lucky and completed our darshan in just half an hour. One unique aspect to prepare for is the strict dress code for men. To enter the inner sanctum (Garbhagriha) for the Sparsh Darshan (where you can touch the Lingam), men must be bare-chested, removing their shirts and vests.
