I visited Dublin Castle today and it was a wonderful experience. The castle is full of history and beautifully maintained. I especially enjoyed the grand rooms, the old architecture, and the peaceful courtyard. Walking through the castle really gives you a feeling of Ireland’s rich past. The staff were helpful, and the overall atmosphere was calm and impressive. It’s definitely a must-visit place if you are in Dublin.
Great experience. I recommend the guided tour, you get a lot of cool history about Dublin and the castle when you take the tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and personable.
Dublin Castle was first founded in 1204, shortly after the Anglo Norman invasion of Ireland, and was the seat of the Viceroy of Ireland (Irish representative of the British monarch) until 1922, when the Country became independent. I did the guided tour, our guide was really prepared and it was a very nice experience. I knew that the guided tour gave access to buildings that are not accessible with the self guided visit (like the Royal Chapel for example), so I tried to buy the ticket online but it was sold out. I came here anyway and found out that as a matter of fact there were available places, so don't trust the website.
