The Long Tom cabin offers a cozy and rustic experience for two guests, featuring one queen bed and a warm, inviting interior. Originally one of the oldest cabins at Burgdorf, possibly named after an 1800s trapper, it was rebuilt by Rick Mallory and Stewart Warren. Constructed of logs with a low ceiling, the cabin provides a charming pioneer feel and commanding views of the surrounding meadow and pool. Winterized and simple, the cabin includes a wood-burning stove for heat, a bed with a new mattress and cover, a table, and chairs. There is no electricity or running water, but outhouses are nearby and firewood is supplied on the porch. The cabins are all within walking distance of the office and the pool, allowing guests to enjoy the natural, scenic surroundings while staying in a clean, rustic environment. Pets are not allowed, though service animals are always welcome, and emotional support or therapy animals may be accepted on a limited basis.

Guests should come prepared with personal items and supplies. A sleeping bag, pillow, or desired bedding is recommended, especially during winter months when temperatures can drop below zero Fahrenheit. Cooking utensils and supplies are needed, as guests can use their own propane camp stoves or carefully cook on the wood stove, with fire safety in mind. Lighting is partially provided with rechargeable battery lamps, but additional portable lighting is recommended to move safely around the property. Guests should also bring a container for water from the central spigot, extra toilet paper, and reusable cups for complimentary coffee and tea. Staying in the Long Tom cabin combines the charm of pioneer life with modern practicality, offering a clean, cozy retreat that feels like a step back in time while still providing essential comforts.
