The Margaret

The Margaret is a spacious and rustic log cabin, one of the three “sisters” built in the 1930s. It features two queen beds and two full beds, comfortably accommodating up to eight guests. Guests can enjoy an expansive view of the meadow from the large porch, and a cozy wood-burning stove provides warmth throughout the cabin. Like all Burgdorf cabins, it is simple and sparsely furnished, offering only the essentials: beds with mattress covers, a clean sheet, a table, chairs, and firewood on the porch. There is no electricity or running water, but outhouses are nearby, and all cabins are within walking distance of the office and pool area. The surrounding natural scenery enhances the rustic charm and makes for a peaceful, authentic experience in the heart of nature. Pets are not permitted on the property, though service animals are welcome, and emotional support or therapy animals may be allowed on a limited basis.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own sleeping bags, pillows, or bedding to ensure comfort, especially in subzero winter temperatures. Cooking utensils and supplies are required, and propane stoves are recommended, though careful use of pans on the wood stove is possible. For convenience, pre-wrapped breakfast burritos can be heated easily on the stove. Additional items to bring include lamps for safe movement around the property, a container for carrying water from the central spigot, and extra toilet paper. This cabin offers a unique blend of simplicity and comfort, allowing guests to enjoy the cozy fire, scenic views, and rustic charm of Burgdorf while being prepared for a true back-to-nature experience.
