A safari experience is as good as the guide, ranger, and driver, and Samson from Mara Intrepid Camp truly made our Masai Mara journey unforgettable. A good guide can make or break game drives — and Samson is simply exceptional. Samson has been with Mara Intrepid Camp for 18 years and is a true Maasai. It genuinely felt like he could smell the animals from far away, understand their language, and anticipate their movements. On our very first day, Samson took us straight to a pride of 12 lions casually having their lunch right by the side of the road — an unbelievable start to the safari. That same evening, we were incredibly lucky to spot a leopard. Suddenly, Samson transformed into an ace Formula 1 driver, skillfully navigating the terrain and positioning us perfectly so the leopard walked straight towards us, giving us a frontal view that we will never forget. The next day, Samson patiently explained everything — from the smallest creatures to the big predators. He then took us to a cheetah, and once again, as the cheetah started walking, Samson positioned the vehicle so we got a perfect front view of it approaching us. The evening drive that day was simply unimaginable. We found a pride of lions resting and another one of three lions — a one-eyed male lion and a couple. Samson suggested we wait, and our patience paid off in the most extraordinary way. We witnessed the lions mating at sunset. The following day, we enjoyed a beautiful sunrise safari and breakfast in the wild. Our Masai Mara experience was truly elevated because of Samson.

I had an amazing experience! Sammy was extremely kind, knowledgeable and the best tour guide I have ever come across. I felt day 1 was ok, however, day 2 made up for it. Please make yourself aware of the migration season for an even better experience. The accomodation is very basic, if you are a light sleeper I do not recommend staying on the camp site, I would advise staying in one of the lodges. I got to see so many animals and truly had a great experience. Thank you so much

Best place to replenish your soul. After a tiring jeep ride from Nairobi, you will witness the tranquility there. Animals are wild and true to their nature. Beautiful and untouched flora and fauna. Plan this trip wisely and contact a good guide for a smooth experience.

The guide Sammy was amazing. He was a very good driver, shared a lot of knowledge, and really took care of us. He is a really good guide, he sees animals from impossible distances, and this amazing experience would not have been possible without him.

We were very lucky to have Samuel as our guide. He has over 10 years of experience and an incredible ability to spot animals, even from far away. He knows everyone both inside and outside the park, which really enhanced the experience. Samuel is kind, patient, and very professional. He took good care of each of us. Thanks to him, we had an amazing safari and saw many animals.

Masai Mara is unreal. The wide open plains, the huge sky, and seeing animals living freely in their natural space is something you don’t forget. It’s quiet, powerful, and makes you slow down and just take it all in. Long after you leave, the feeling stays with you.

It is one of the best places to visit. From the moment we entered the park, we were amazed by the stunning landscape, the wide variety of animals roaming close to us, and the vast open sky—it felt like a scene straight out of a documentary. The entrance fee is high for foreign visitors, but the experience is truly worth it. We went on game drives during sunrise and evening. The driver played a dual role as both driver and guide. He was very knowledgeable, knew the names and behaviors of the animals, and took us to the right spots at the right time. The Land Cruiser was very comfortable for the bumpy roads. We even witnessed a group of lions hunting a buffalo—an unforgettable moment. Some drivers did not follow the rules and got too close to the animals. During lion hunting time, drivers called others through walkie-talkies, causing many vehicles to rush to the spot, which clearly disturbed them. Hot air balloons were also quite frequent. We didn’t see rhinos in this park, though we had seen many in another park. We stayed inside the park, and hearing the hippos at night was thrilling. The memories we made here will stay with us forever.

I absolutely loved this trip, great value for money.

This tour blew us away. Peter our guide and driver took every step possible to ensure we were well looked after and got the best experience. We saw the big five and some of the ugly five too, plus lots of other beautiful animals in the park. Can’t fault the experience!

Visiting Masai Mara National Reserve was truly a lifetime experience! The vast savannahs, incredible wildlife, and beautiful landscapes make it one of the best safari destinations in the world. We stayed near Talek Gate, which I highly recommend — it’s very convenient for early morning and full-day game drives. The wildlife sightings were amazing! We saw plenty of lions with cubs, elephants, giraffes, and many other animals. Seeing these animals up close in their natural habitat was simply breathtaking. The drivers and guides are very experienced and stay in constant communication through their radios, which really helps in spotting animals quickly. Every game drive felt exciting and different! We went in September, but unfortunately missed the Great Migration — still, the experience was unforgettable. The full-day game drives with packed breakfast and lunch were well-organized and comfortable. A few tips for travelers: • Carry insect repellents — there are lots of flies, especially near certain areas. • Mornings can be extremely cold, so take enough warm layers. • Daytime can get sunny, so sunscreen and hats are useful. Overall, Masai Mara is a must-visit destination for every nature and wildlife lover. The beauty of the reserve and the thrill of the safari will stay with you forever!
