We visited the museum as we were in Aswan on a Nile Cruise. It's a bit of a walk from where the cruise ships dock, but mainly level ground and took about 20mins to get there. Entry was 400 EGP each. We had checked the price beforehand online. The sign outside said 400 EGP too. I said I wanted to pay in EGP and the "box office" attendant said that it would be 900 EGP for 2 of us. I insisted that the price was 400 each and he said that there was " extra fees to pay". I counted out the 800 EGP and gave it to him and got the 2 tickets! (Scam attempt no. 1). So, we entered through the ticket scan turnstile area and into the grounds. As we cleared the entry building, another chap approached me and pretended to be the man who I had just paid for the tickets. He showed me a bunch of EGP notes and said "Only 700 here, cost is 800, you owe me 100 pounds" I said "no, I paid 800" and he tried it once more before walking away. (Scam attempt no. 2). Apart from the two scamming attempts, the museum was very worthwhile with some great exibits and we learned a lot. Just be careful and be firm with the scammers.

Being Egyptian myself I studied Egypt history at school, but this museum educated me much more about the Nubian culture and history. The exhibits are in excellent condition, display is modern and staff are super helpful and friendly.

This museum is small but worth the visit. Allocate 2 hrs (up to 4 if you have the time). The cost of 400 EGP paid by tourists will enable the museum to remain effective for years to come. It is a way to quick access to information about the Nubian people during your visit to Egypt.

I appreciated that the Nubian museum was shown in chronological order and told a story. I hadn't appreciated the impact of building the Nasser dam. The temporary exhibit on the university digital was informative with beautiful gold mummies.

This is an excellent museum to visit to give a concise idea of Nubian history. It was built as part of UNESCO effort to save the Nubian historical sculptures. It's advisable to visit it before you embark on a tour of the sites. It has large 3D models that show location of all the sites, wall maps, historic photos, artefacts, and current archaeological items to be displayed properly in future. To get in you'll need tickets. Site is not busy when we visited. There's an impressive towering statue of Ramses the Great at a strategic location. Most of area has level access.
