Beautiful temple from the ptolemaic era, and the most interesting place to go from Aswan apart from a day trip to Abu Simbel. The ticket to the temple does not include the boat ride and the system is actually a bit annoying: we got on a boat close to the ticket office area but not 'parked' there. We headed to the temple, and got told to get off somewhere to buy the tickets, scan them, and back on the boat to the actual temple. I guess you could tip the boat driver to skip this intermediate station. We paid 600 EGP for a return ticket for three people.
That’s a very beautiful temple with a stunning view from the water. Try to find out the Christian cross. This temple had been used as a Christian church after the Roman had taken over the place from the pharaohs. Unfortunately they had destroyed some of the faces of the gods.
This is the historic temple of the goddess of motherhood, magic and fertility at its new island location at Aswan Low Dam reservoir. To get there we had to take a 10 minute boat ride. All passengers have to wear life vests as a safety precaution. The site is huge and is very popular with locals and tourists. Best to go early to avoid the crowds and the heat. From the site you can see the pylons of the submerged old site, sticking out of the water. Best to take a good guide with you to explain historic details. Wear comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen and hat. Watch your steps as ground is uneven.
