Great Hike Climb through the jungle and rocky hillsides to the best/highest view in the Rio area. On wet days not recommended without good gripping footwear because the trail gets muddy and is very steep and slippery on large portions. The views are worth the climb. Take enough water and don’t come later than noon because otherwise the park guards might not let you start anymore.

Recommended to start early (they open at 8). Didn’t think a guide was necessary. Moderate hike overall with amazing rewarding views.

Best hiking in Rio, with breathtaking view. The carrasqueira is not for beginners but there are always local guides there offering "a lift" for R$40-60. Totally worth it, especially to go down. The trail takes 1h30 - 2h30 depending on your physical conditions. Bring water, sun protector, mosquito repellent and good mood :))

Around 5:30h to complete the whole hike which is a bit hard to get to the summit of the rock but it is really worth it for those breathtaking views of Rio . Bring plenty of water and proper hiking shoes.

Awesome hikes! My husband and I did this today and had a great time. It’s pretty steep and there is one section that is a more difficult rock climb or you can pay to rent a harness at the steep section if you don’t like heights or rock climbing. My husband climbed up and down and I paid for the harness. Then it’s about a 20 minute walk to the top and when you get to the top it’s incredible! Try to go on a clear day so you can see all across Rio! There were also paragliders you could see from the top. Hiking down wasn’t as bad as I thought. You just have to be careful since the dirt/gravel can be slippery in certain sections on the way down. We spent an hour at the top. Total hiking time was about 4 hours. We took two 1.5 liters of water and just finished them when we got to the bottom. Overall we would highly recommend to do the hike! Just give yourselves plenty of time to enjoy yourselves at the top.
