Awesome place, would reccomend you do your own game drives, you get to see more that way and can be out there as long as you want to be during the alloted hours you have. Hotel and food was good, but found it very expensive as a local at R6k per night, where our room was also very average. Apart from that it was peaceful and relaxing, with enough swimming pools around etc.

One for the books. I haven't been to any other safari so this was a great first time experience. I was not able to see all big 5 but it doesn't matter. Just being able to be there is a privilege. I joined a tour group called MoAfrika. I booked 2 weeks prior and was able to get a good discount. They have fantastic customer service from signing up, to hotel pick-up, the game drive, and drop off.

What a great experience. Left from Pretoria for a full day and was absolutely amazed. Antelopes, elephants, rhynos, and hippos are plentiful along with a few other nice species. You’ll have to be lucky to see the big cats. Our guide was absolutely fantastic and managed to arrange very nice sightings for us. I would absolutely recommend the experience.

The permit to get into the Park has been increased by 1000% as from 1 Dec 2025. They offer a discount for pensioners and SA residents. It is state owned and no one outside of that has any say of increases. What was a tar road leading to the Pilanesberg Centre has become a bumpy, thick sand road making it very difficult for non- 4x4 vehicles to drive on it. The rain has been wonderful but not for the roads in the park. The main hide at Manyane has been closed for over a year now because it is sinking. Perhaps with the extreme hike in entrance fees they will be able to sort that out. Overall the Park looks good for the animals. They look healthy although numbers of animals with the exception of elephants, seem to be lower. There are more game guides from one particular company in the park and they seem to be like Checkers 60/60. Everywhere you turn there's a game drive vehicle around and if there is a sitting of a cat then there's gridlock. They scared off a leopard trying to hunt for food for her cubs. The Pilanesberg centre is looking very good although be prepared to pay foreign tourist prices in the shops. Clean toilet facilities. Overall, the increased fees is a bit off putting especially if you are staying in one of the lodges around the reserve but the standard of the park with regards the animal wellbeing is good. Lots of vegetation to feed the number of animals in the reserve.

A fantastic experience in the wilderness. Thanks to our tour guide Martin, we were able to see many different animals – large and small, flying, swimming, and walking. Martin does his job with heart, love, and expertise. Thank you for an unforgettable safari.
