Managed by Ian and Licia of MoAfrika Tours, Dumela is a budget-friendly lodge that doesn’t compromise on comfort. Upon my arrival, Licia welcomed me warmly and explained what to expect during the game drives and the Panorama Tour. I stayed for three nights in the middle of winter and spring and truly enjoyed the dinners. Ruru, the head chef, made sure there was variety, with no repeated dishes. Two out of the three dinners were served around the bon fire, creating a warm and social atmosphere where guests could introduce themselves and exchange travel tips. The rooms are simple but well-maintained, with hot and cold showers, comfortable bedding, and plenty of blankets. The only drawback for me was the absence of a heater, as the nights can get very cold during this season. What really stood out was the staff—they were genuinely helpful, accommodating, and made my stay feel welcoming. Dumela is an excellent choice if you’re looking for an affordable yet comfortable safari experience.

This is a budget tented lodge. It is comfortable, with a large bed, air cond and attached bathroom. Dinner is around a camp fire where you get to mingle with other guests. The food is simple (do not expect a big buffet) but delicious. As it is inside a private game reserve, you can hear hyenas and other wildlife calling in the night. It was a very nice experience. I think the only fault of this place is perhaps the aesthetics. They could decorate it a bit better and use lights that are warmer to give a more "romantic" or "resort" feel.

I had such a nice time staying at Dumela. The accommodations are very comfortable - you have a full bathroom, comfy beds, electricity, and air conditioning, with the added bonus of hearing wonderful sounds of the surrounding nature. I really felt immersed in the park. The pool is lovely, and there are nice lounge chairs. The communal eating area is a great way to meet other people while eating delicious food prepared by the staff. I also felt very safe the whole time. Would definitely come back.
