I never seen a busiest place than this one. Full of visitors. Just plan in advance. I brought the castle and palace entry tickets online, i didn't need to wait in the queue which was the best idea. You can visit the gardens and the little shop while waiting for the booked time for the inside of the palace. From the palace to the castle, there are just few minutes away 👌🏽🙂 so expensive the souvenir shop 😲😯 Nice experience, beautiful place with the city view and overall a great experience in Sintra.

Worth every penny. But must arrive early and on time. If you get lucky, your uber driver may wait for you for an hour or two and also make money taking you back. We got lucky, plus we tip well. I have good phone service, but I've herd people struggle to find transportation back. Plan accordingly. Another helpful tip is to pay at entrance or online $4 euro per person to have the bus take you way up to the entrance of castle. Tip #2 , good walking shoes. They do have bathrooms at park entrance, castle entrance and inside the castle.

We enjoyed exploring the palace and its grounds! We decided to get tickets for both the inside and the outside, despite the reviews about the inside being underwhelming. Yes, the inside was a little underwhelming compared to other palaces in Europe but we still enjoyed walking through. The outside - wow! We were surprised to be exploring most of the grounds alone because that's where the magic is! We only encountered a few others on the various trails. The little lake section, the cross on the highest hill, the twists and turns and mini hikes - that part was the real visit, in our opinion. There were some steep sections and some woodsy sections, and we fared both just fine (avg age: 55). We opted to arrive 2.5 hours ahead of our inside time slot giving us time to explore the outside. We had planned to continue exploring the outside after our peek inside but they closed the park due to high winds and downed trees, which was a bummer. It also meant that The Moorish Castle was also closed. 😞 Still, we had a great time. For those coming from Lisbon: We opted to take a (very affordable) ride share in the morning so as not to risk any public transport issues or hassle and our driver got us there lickety split, in 45 minutes flat, right to the entrance. After our visit, we took the train back to Lisbon, requiring a few more steps in the process (bus-train-bus-walk).

Such a beautiful site to visit! The architecture is incredible. We opted to only do the terraces and skipped the inside. If you did both, you’d be there for hours. The views are stunning and definitely with the visit 😍

The colorful Pena Palace is absolutely stunning. We spent about three hours exploring and managed to see everything related to the palace. You also have the option to visit the gardens and surrounding areas, which are beautiful and worth the time. I highly recommend buying your tickets online. If you purchase them a few days in advance, around three days, the price is much cheaper. There are buses and tuk-tuks available to take you up to the palace entrance, but the best value for us was taking a taxi, which cost only 8 euros in total. The cafeteria is so simple, it may worth to redesign the area. I would definitely come back!
