Came across this by pure coincidence when we were exploring Aveiro on a day trip from Porto. Luckily there was still availability on one of the tours (booked online) and it definitely made our day. Gustavo is extremely knowledgeable and knows a lot about the history of the local area. How he navigates the waterways which all look the same to me is an absolute mystery. We saw a good amount of birds including Osprey, Booted Eagle, Flamingos, Curlew, Terns, Godwits, Cormorants etc. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Aveiro.
Gustavo is an excellent guide that effortlessly walks you through the fascinating history, flora and fauna of the estuary. When we return to aveiro we will be going out with him again. Excellent.
Finding Gustavo's tour was beyond serendepidous. It made our day. I cannot imagine a better experience of Aveiro's history -- seeing the former salt fields turned wetlands and learning of all the changes that have come to this beautiful area over its history. It was beautiful, educational, and a harrowing warning of the importance of protecting the natural beauty of wetlands...at a time when the world needs it most. This place may not be here in 20 years and to experience this place like this is so so so much better than just a tourist cruise down the canal.
This exceeded our expectations and was very enjoyable. We signed up the day before and got a good deal. Gustavo is a very knowledgeable guide who shared lots of information about the wildlife and the Ria Lagoon of Aveiro.
