Canyoning in Grmečica offers a unique blend of natural beauty and light adventure, making it an ideal choice for nature lovers seeking a safe yet adrenaline-filled experience in the wild surroundings of Lake Bled. Known as “Little Thunder,” this enchanting canyon draws you into a darker, more dramatic landscape where a lively mountain brook guides your path deep into the gorge. Slippery rock slopes, refreshing waterfalls, and crystal-clear pools create an exciting playground that feels adventurous without being overly demanding, making it perfect for beginners and those looking to try canyoning for the first time.
Hidden within Lake Bled’s diverse Alpine scenery, Grmečica is a true gem shaped by water into a massive natural toboggan of smooth rock slides, narrow stone passages, pools, and cascading waterfalls. After a detailed safety briefing and being equipped with all the necessary gear, your professional guide will lead you on a scenic 30-minute hike to the canyon’s starting point. What follows is an unforgettable 2.5-hour descent filled with sliding, jumping, and optional rope descents, including an exhilarating leap from an 8-meter ledge into a stunning emerald pool. No previous canyoning experience is required, just a sense of adventure and a readiness to enjoy an epic, fun-filled journey through one of Slovenia’s most charming canyons.

Lots of the reviews here give good instructions on how to get there. The walk is lovely, well maintained paths and the waterfall was great. Took about 45 mins there and back.

Parked the car on the free park & ride parking lot an followed the hiking arrows, went trouh a tunnel under the rail road. Great bridge to pass the river, than follow the cycling road to the watervallen, or better, where a waterfall can be. There was only a small pond but no waterfall.. hike from parking to the waterfall and back is 3,5km.

The location from Google is wrong!!!! It’s going to lead you to a parking lot, it is not there!!!!! Here what to do. If you are inside the parking lot take you car and go back to the road right side, a little bit further you gonna see an entrance right side, like a gravel road, just go there and you gonna see a little passage under the railroad just follow the road, soon you gonna see a single lane road just follow, then a parking lot gonna be there. Leave you car there and walk, then cross a big suspension bridge and about 15 min, you gonna find an entrance left side, walk a bit and you gonna be there. We went after 17:00 so there was no one charging anything .

Beautiful waterfall. It is called "Grmečica" which in direct translations means "thunder" but in our language more like "loud one". FREE OF CHARGE 20minutes of walk - To catch it you must park next to train station. - On foot turn direction to Bled and walk pass by station that road goes a bit lower down where you can see the walking tunel under rail-road. Don't be scared :) - After tunel turn right and folow the macadam road thrue fields till you se the footbridge suported by steal wires. - After bridge turn right and walk on asphalt bike road. You will se from the right the big river and later smaller one conecting to it. - there will be bridge to go over small one, there you must turn left on forest road and after 20m you will find it. Super fresh water, beutiful site and allso option to jump from top of the waterfall. Please be carefull. From the right side you can go up the rock and you will have steal wire for gelp. Please jum only into dark center wher water is deep. Sometimes there is no water, se picture what means safe level to jump. Do it on your own risk and be safe.

It is a bit difficult to find the road to the parking lot. You need to drive under the railway. The road is in bad condition. For the waterfall cross the bridge and turn right onto the cycling path. At the following crossroads always keep left. Although there were signs that the path is closed, we could easily reach the waterfall, because there was no construction work going on on the cycling path on Sunday.
