We just finished our tour of Fatima with Nelson. We gave him a five stars review due to his wealth of knowledge, professionalism and his pleasant personality. Nelson was an awesome tour guide! We booked a private tour to Fatima for the procession and tour of the sanctuary -- We safely arrived to Fatima having already learned so much on the way there and even more on our way back to our Airbnb in Bica. His vast knowledge was awesome!!
The highlight of our trip to Portugal was our day in Fatima with Nelson. He perfectly planned the itinerary to include all the amazing spots and still have time for prayer and reflection. We were brought back in time to experience the life of the Shepard children and their miraculous experiences.
It has taken me a few months to write this review because I didn’t want to rush – I wanted to give credit where credit was due. A friend recommended Nelson and we were not disappointed. It started by Nelson picking us up in Porto, Portugal and drive the 4 of us to Lisbon with a stop in Fatima for a private tour with Nelson. His car was clean and accommodated the four of us with large luggage and had plenty of room to spare. In our way to Fatima Nelson told us a little bit about each town we passed. Once we arrived in Fatima, he took us to an area where we could spend a little time shopping. The locals had wonderful things, from rosary beads to to tablecloths. After, Nelson took us to where the shepherds had lived, and then onto the sanctuary of our Lady of Fatima. We spent a few hours there with Nelson as our guide. He knew all about the history of Fatima and answered any questions we might have had. He was very knowledgeable and never rushed us. After our tour, Nelson recommended a lovely restaurant, “ A Fandanguita” located a few minutes outside of Fatima. Nelson helped us order and everything was super delicious. A husband and wife run the restaurant and we left feeling like family. Then we were on our way to Lisbon, but along the way my friend asked if we could stop in Nazareth And Nelson did. We arrived in Lisbon hours later than we were scheduled, due to our wanting to stop in a few extra places, Nelson took everything in stride, a true gentleman. Nelson went above and beyond what we expected.
This was by far the best tour guide experience I have been on. Nelson our tour guide was absolutely fantastic with me and my family. I can't praise him highly enough. His knowledge, patience, passion for Fatima, and pleasant personality made our experience incredible. If you are doing a private or small group tour, the Fátima Experience is definitely the way to do it. You see all the important sites with great history and context. I would highly recommend this tour to my family and friends. You won't regret booking this tour or using Nelson as your guide in Portugal.
