Ceramic Table Lamps: Sunday Evenings

Black Hound Clay Studio South offers a handbuilding class led by Claire Engelhardt, where students will create unique ceramic table lamps that combine artistry with functionality. Using coiling, slab building, and various surface decoration techniques, participants will explore designing both small and large lamp forms. The class addresses technical challenges such as clay shrinkage and wiring while ensuring the finished piece is functional. Weekly demonstrations cover topics including glazing and building larger pieces, while one-on-one guidance helps bring each student’s vision to life. Tuition includes a complete lighting kit and LED bulb for each participant. This course is intended for students who have previously completed at least one beginning-level handbuilding class, providing a foundation for more complex projects. The supportive studio environment encourages experimentation, creativity, and skill refinement.
