The Girl Scout program at Helen Woodward Animal Center offers a 90-minute guided experience designed to meet all badge requirements for Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, and Cadettes. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with a variety of animals, learn about their habitats, and gain hands-on experience in animal care. Each Girl Scout can earn the corresponding badge for their vest or sash, with additional custom patches available to commemorate the visit. The program begins with a brief introduction and safety rules, followed by scheduled rotations to meet the animals and participate in themed activities, ensuring both educational and engaging experiences. Children under 5 cannot participate in petting reptiles, and a minimum of 5 participants is required to run the program, although smaller groups can attend without a refund adjustment.
The tour is stroller and wheelchair accessible, making it inclusive for all participants. Guests can arrive early and wait in the covered pavilion, where they can sit and play until the program begins. Throughout the session, instructors provide guidance on animal interactions and rotate activities to maintain engagement and educational value. Species may vary depending on health and availability, and food or drinks are not provided, though water bottle refill stations are available. Participants are encouraged to bring a water bottle and wear closed-toed shoes for comfort and safety. Each badge type must be booked separately, as only one can be run at a time.
