Laguardia’s history is written in its stones, waiting to be discovered by those who walk its streets. Beneath the town lies a fascinating network of underground cellars, or caves, carved some six meters below the houses and streets, bearing witness to centuries of winemaking tradition. The experience includes a guided visit to the Church of Santa María de los Reyes, built at the end of the 16th century, where visitors can admire its remarkable 17th-century polychrome portico, one of the finest examples of its kind.

With the senses awakened, the journey continues to a 15th-century winery to uncover the true story of wine in the region. Exploring these ancient underground cellars reveals the deep importance of wine not only for the town but for the entire surrounding area. Lunch will be a high-quality traditional Riojan menu served in a local restaurant, followed by free time in the afternoon to enjoy a peaceful walk among the vineyards. The day concludes with a visit to the iconic Marqués de Riscal Winery, a striking 21st-century architectural landmark and symbol of modern Rioja, including a tasting of two wines.
