Travelling from Christchurch via Arthurs Pass, we begin our journey at Otira, taking in the dramatic alpine scenery before heading south to explore the Hokitika region. Along the way, we stop at the stunning Hokitika Gorge, where the turquoise waters and surrounding native forest provide plenty of opportunities for photos and short walks. Continuing westward, we make our way to Greymouth before venturing further to the famous Pancake Rocks at Punakaiki, marveling at the layered limestone formations and powerful blowholes that make this area so unique.
After enjoying the Pancake Rocks, we return to Greymouth and start our journey back to Christchurch, taking the scenic route via the Buller Gorge with its winding river and forested valleys. Along the way, we stop at Reefton and the Rahu Saddle for breathtaking alpine views before arriving at Hanmer Springs. Here, we take the opportunity to relax and soak in the thermal hot pools, enjoying the warm waters and serene surroundings before completing our journey back to Christchurch.
