The former Bruckmann Brewery complex in Cincinnati is one of the most complete 19th century brewery sites in the country. Brewing began at this location in 1856 and continued for nearly 100 years under the Bruckmann family. Most of the major brewery components are still standing, including the brewhouse, malthouse, bottling building, stables, family home, power plant, and the underground lagering cellars. After brewing operations ended in 1950, the site was repurposed for other businesses, including the Fountain Winery in the 1970s and later the headquarters and production facility of the Worthmore Food Products Company, which specialized in Cincinnati style chili and mock turtle soup. The history of the site reflects both the brewing legacy of the city and the adaptability of its industrial spaces over time.
This site has never before been open to public tours, and the Brewing Heritage Trail has invested significant effort into repairing and preserving the site. Guests will have the rare opportunity to explore several of the historic buildings as well as the underground lagering cellars, experiencing firsthand the craftsmanship and industrial design of the 19th century. This is a unique chance to step inside a significant piece of Cincinnati’s brewing history, offered exclusively by our non-profit organization. Do not miss the opportunity to see and learn about this remarkable historic site.
