Karavasta Lagoon, the largest lagoon in Albania and one of the most significant in the Mediterranean region, is a breathtaking natural wonder that offers an immersive experience in unspoiled beauty and biodiversity. Located within the Divjakë-Karavasta National Park, this vast lagoon is separated from the Adriatic Sea by a narrow strip of land and is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna, making it a paradise for nature lovers, birdwatchers, and adventure seekers alike.
As you enter the park, you'll find yourself surrounded by dense pine forests, wetlands, and salt marshes, each playing a crucial role in supporting the delicate ecosystem of the lagoon. The park is home to over 230 species of birds, 25 species of mammals, and numerous species of fish and amphibians. One of the most fascinating inhabitants of the lagoon is the Dalmatian Pelican, a rare and majestic bird that has found a safe haven in Karavasta. This species, known for its distinctive large bill and impressive wingspan, thrives in the tranquil waters of the lagoon, making it one of the few places in Europe where it can be observed in its natural habitat.
Karavasta Lagoon is a stunning natural sanctuary with scenic trails, diverse wildlife, and rare Dalmatian Pelicans. A boat trip through its tranquil canals offers breathtaking views and close encounters with nature, making it a perfect escape for birdwatchers, photographers, and nature lovers.

€25 for 2. Short boat trip, about 20 mins. Didn't see much wildlife expect a peregrine falcon. Wrong time I suppose. Nice restaurant across the road

Nice boat trip around the river. €25 for the boat (up to 5 people) or €5 each. Had a bit of a wait as there was a tour bus on their way who had booked the boats out however the lady running it managed to get my group squeezed in so didn't have to wait too long. Also there is a little restaurant across the road where we waited with a beer (the lady came to us when they were ready). All in all was not in a rush so a pleasant experience. Only downside was no tourguide aspect to it just the boat ride although that was good enough.

This felt like a scam. The nature is really nice but that’s all there is to it. The trip takes you in 10 minutes to a watchtower and back the same way. Don’t expect to see any wildlife. The guide couldn’t even understand a word of english. Not worth the money!

Boat trip for about 25 minutes trough the lagoon. Very nice! 25 euro's for one boat, but you can share with other people.

This is a 30-40 minutes ride, around the laggon and one stop at a bird watching point. Sometimes you might get lucky and see a variety of birds and sometime nature needs to rest. Personally, I really did enjoy the ride and the service and information provided. It really is a unique experience. No need for booking in advance, as tickets are available on site. It usually opens at 10:00 until 17:00. Before you embark the ride make sure to wear a hat and also have water with you. Life jacket are available on site, children included but we were allowed to bring ours as well. If you want to enjoy some bird watching, bring your binoculars.
