The Ale Trail is a scenic horseback ride that takes you along Patons Rock Beach and past stunning headlands, including two river crossings. Along the way, the horses can be tied up at the iconic Mussel Inn hitching rail, where riders are treated to a drink before continuing the journey back home. The ride schedule depends on weather and tide conditions, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for both riders and horses.
For the welfare of the horses and due to the challenging terrain, there is a weight limit of 90 kg for all rides. Depending on your riding experience and fitness level, exceptions may sometimes be made. For riders over the weight limit, alternative options are available, allowing participation on a flatter section of the beach while still enjoying the scenic surroundings and the horseback experience.
